About Me!

Hi! My name is Kalei Connors. I am a sophomore music education major at Converse University. I was born in Florida but raised in Greer, South Carolina. I've been all around music during my high school times. I played the violin, sang, and was a part of my high schools Cologuard program. Now that I am in college, I went the path of voice, because I found it so much enjoyable and I was more passionate about it. I am also a Cologuard director for a high school in the upstate. When I'm not practicing music, I love to spend my free time reading books, coloring, spending time with my friends, and watching romance movies. I love music, and talking about music. So keep reading to learn some of my favorites and maybe even some I don't like.

1. My current go-to music:

Currently I have been listening a variety of genes. I really enjoy listening to very slow folk, soul, poppy type of music. But currently my top listening has been the artist Tate McRae. Majority of her songs are very upbeat and make you just wanna vibe. One song that lives rent free in my head is "It's ok, I'm ok."

2. Music that is meaningful to me

During my senior of high school, My band director would always play this one song. "When a Man Loves a Women" by Percy Sledge. My band director was really close and special too me, and after his passing I would play this song and remember all of the good times I had with him.

3. Music I don't connect with:

Choosing a piece that I don't agree with is hard. I seem to find a way to enjoy all music. If I had to choose, I would say any type of K-Pop songs. One is "Crazy" by 4 Minute. I feel like it's maybe a little too much for me. I find it a little annoying, but whenever my roommate is playing songs like these I tend to just let her and sit back and listen.

  1. Hey girly pop! Not gonna lie, I agree with that last statement you made there. K-pop is a genre that is hard to get around to and lots of people like it! I want to like it bad but its so difficult. Also, I didn't know you did Colorguard that is so cool!!

  2. Hi! I also did color guard in my high school and had a lot of fun with it. I really enjoyed that first song you put on here. It really was a song that just makes you want to vibe along with it. I do like the two other songs. I love that you have that kind of a connection to the Percy Sledge song

  3. Kalei I never knew that you played violin thats cool ! I am also a big fan of "When a Man Loves a Woman" and other songs like that. Soul music is named very accurately, it speaks right to the soul

  4. I totally forgot that you used to play violin. The Tate McRae song was pretty interesting and engaging to listen to and I specifically like the bass in the song. "When a Man Loves a Woman" is such a good song and it was nice to hear your connection to the song. I also could never get into K-pop no matter how many times I've listened. Although that one song about Cupid or whatever is kinda catchy.
